I have a daytime wedding on Sunday, and I got two new ties for the occasion. Which do you think is best (I should use)?
Suit is a deep petroleum blue
Shirt is obviously cocaine white.
Both ties are silk.
Car for your troubles.

are those your only option?

“Blue, brings out your eyes. Kids got killer eyes; not unlike yourself.”
“Anyone ever tell you that?”

not to be a hater, they just look more work place or Job interview than wedding. but if yes they are, Go blue. the red would be a bit off putting with the blue suite.

Blue. I think it’s slightly more formal. If you were a CEO, I’d say red. It’s more powerful.

I have poop coloured eyes.

both these ties have that Business look.

I have some other options, but I think they are too plain. Might go with a traditional light blue tie.

Yes, but the blue is more subtle, and doesn’t draw attention. The bride and groom are the center of attention.
And he should also wear black shoes.

Blue, definitely blue.
![]() 05/23/2017 at 17:35 |

I’d go with the blue one.
![]() 05/23/2017 at 17:38 |

I’m voting red.

The blue if those are the only options.

Blue tie.
And no fucking sneakers.

What do you think I am? A teen?

I have other plain options. But I usually prefer patterned ties.
![]() 05/23/2017 at 17:43 |

The red might be too much.
![]() 05/23/2017 at 17:44 |

Is the red one too brash?
![]() 05/23/2017 at 17:48 |

I like the red one too, but the blue one does it for me.

Blue!!! Red looks like the clown at some birthday party.

Neither, this one:
The blue one.

Blue. Red is wrong shade of red. Not red enough?

My stepdad (who is very old fashioned), always said to only wear red ties to job interviews, never anywhere else.

I seen grown-ass men wearing sneakers with shirts, ties, and even suits every goddamn day on the train to work.
There are sensible dress shoes for every type of foot out there. These are a poor, lazy choice, and just because you choose all black, you’re not fooling anyone.
Why does nobody say anything? Why does their supervisor/manager tell them to leave the sneakers at the gym?
Photos may or not be mine*
*OK, they are.

Guy that wears suits everyday here.
Q: Is the suit black or navy blue?
ETA: I’m a moron, just read it. Blue.
ETA II: if you’re there for the bride, wear pink tie. If for the groom, wear blue tie.

DO NOT F*CKING WEAR TENNIS SHOES WITH A SUIT. EVER.
There are plenty of wing tips that come with Nike Air-esque soles.
![]() 05/23/2017 at 18:27 |

I know. So many comfortable shoes.
Why on earth do people go straight for this shit?
Nubby sole, all those panels and textures?
Jesus Christ, man.

I also wear suits everyday, but rarely a tie.
Gracias.

Eh, still blue.

Playing devil’s advocate here, but is it possible they are wearing the sneakers during their commute and slip on dress shoes when they reach the office? I’m not sure I would want to risk a fancy pair of shoes on my commute everyday. Plus comfort. I agree though, it looks terrible.

Counter point, I often see a lot of guys in Suits with sneakers on the train to NYC. However this is because for the most part NYC commuters walk to their offices, I walked 42 miles during my commute last week and I’ll be damned if I put those 42 miles on my Johnston and Murphy’s when I can put them on a pair of $20 sneakers.

I knew what you were going to say before I clicked on the notification, and I thought of that before started sharing my disdain for this practice.
They would not be wearing all black shoes if they were just “commuting,” because no one buys 100% black sneakers unless they are a waiter/waitress or a lazy professional.
I sat next to one of these guys on the train once and we had this converstaion.
Me: “That’s a good Idea, I should start doing that”
Him: “What?”
Me: “Wear sneakers to commute in so I can be more comfortable, and then put my dress shoes on when I get to work. I’m curious how many pairs to you have to keep at work?”
Him: “I’m not doing that.”

Heh, I have two pairs at work.

...and your commuter kicks aren’t masquerading as either one of them. :)

LOLOLOL. Ok, your hate is 100% justified. I guess I assumed humanity was better than this. Hoping, maybe. I do like the dress sneaker style though. As long as they are not ratty old gym shoes and show that you put in the effort, I think it works with a slim suit.

I dig deep and explore all options before I flip that switch. :)
